The Honeymoon Is Over: Thriving in a Remote Work Environment
It’s been several months since our lives were upended by COVID-19. In the span of a week, millions of Americans found themselves suddenly working from home – trading daily commutes for extra sleep, business attire for stretchy pants, and time in the pick-up line for quality time with family. Except that’s now how it actually worked out for most people. Instead, we’re working longer and harder while balancing personal roles in a home that’s often bursting at the seams with people, pets and other distractions. The honeymoon is over. We’re experiencing a culture shift, and it’s getting real.
In this session, April Phillips – a veteran marketing and communications professional who has managed national initiatives from the comfort, and sometimes discomfort, of her home since 2014 – will share tried and true tips for working effectively and efficiently in a remote environment, managing projects and teams across multiple locations, and maintaining a work-life balance when the physical lines between home and work are practically non-existent. She’ll provide best practices for moving beyond surviving and into thriving in this new landscape.
April Phillips, APR, is an accredited public relations with over 17 years’ experience in marketing and communications and more than six years of experience leading public relations planning for large-scale national campaigns and corporate partnerships, supporting organizational optimization projects and coordinating field initiatives as a communications director for the American Red Cross Blood Services – all while working from home.
She earned her Accreditation in Public Relations in November 2018 and a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of West Florida in Pensacola in 2003. She is a native of Northwest Florida and currently resides in the metro Atlanta area with her boyfriend of 14 years and their dogs, Cooper and Scout – both of whom make conference calls interesting and loud.Register Now
